Privacy Policy

Effective: February 28, 2026

The Short Version

OtterBot does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The website has no analytics, no cookies, and no tracking. The software runs entirely on your own hardware.

Website

The OtterBot website (otterbot.ai) is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not use cookies, analytics services, tracking pixels, or any form of user monitoring. We do not collect IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or any other identifying information.

GitHub Pages may collect basic server logs as part of their infrastructure. This is governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement.

OtterBot Software

OtterBot runs entirely in a Docker container on your own machine. It does not phone home, send telemetry, or transmit any data to us or any third party. All conversations, configurations, and data remain on your hardware under your full control.

If you configure OtterBot to use third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google), your interactions with those services are governed by their respective privacy policies. OtterBot itself does not intermediate or log those communications.

Data Storage

By default, OtterBot is ephemeral — data is lost when the container stops. If you opt in to persistent storage via a volume mount, all data is stored locally in the directory you specify (typically ~/otterbot). No data leaves your machine.

Third-Party Services

The website loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may collect limited data as described in their privacy policy. No other third-party services are used on the website.

Children's Privacy

OtterBot does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page with a new effective date. Since we don't collect any contact information, we cannot notify you directly — please check back periodically.
